How does video poker work?

Video poker has been around in a number of different forms for a long time. It originated at the casinos in Las Vegas back in the 1970s. It is essentially a single player version of poker that pays out depending on the hand that you have. It actually bears some similarity to playing Yahtzee in that your aim is to get the best hand you possibly can.

It works by you loading up the game and choosing how much you would like to wager. Once you’ve made your bet you will be dealt out five cards. After the cards are dealt you will be given the chance to keep or discard them. You can keep as many or as few of the cards as you like. Once you have made your choice the cards you chose to discard will be removed and new cards dealt in their place. After this round then the final check will be made to see if you have managed to grab a win.

The different hands will all have different payout levels. Just like a hand in regular poker, the better the hand the better the payout. There are a wide range of different video poker games on offer to players and this means that they will have different levels of payout. Some of the games will payout more and some will payout a lot less, it’s up to you to find the right one for you.

Why play video poker?

The main reason that people choose to play video poker is because they don’t like to play around other people. It offers the poker experience without having to interact with others. It’s the same reason that some people prefer to play online poker over real poker, you don’t have to worry about any tells or bluffing.

It’s also much simpler than a game of Texas Hold ‘em. The simplicity means that players can get to grips with how the game is played almost right away. There is no trying to understand what the river is or the big blind. Players can just sit down and easily get to grips with which hands are worth more and how they can win money.

Is there just one video poker option?

No. There are a large number of different video poker games available to Indian players. All you have to do is find your favourite casino, sign up and then you can scroll through the different video poker options that are available. Each game will have a different variation of the rules. For example Deuces Wild offers players a wild card in the form of a 2. This means that if you get a 2 in your hand then it can count as any other card in the game. It makes it easier to create winning hands and increases your chances.

Other games will have other rules in place in order to help separate it from the pack. There may also be other features included such as the ability to double your winnings if you win on an additional card game. All of this means that you will have plenty of different variations on offer in order to choose the right game for you.

But they all pay out the same, right?

No. Each game will have its own paytable. While some of the games will have similar paytables, there will be slight variations between the games in order for them to stand out. This could be that the gaps between the payouts are closer or it could be that the payouts for the better hands will be higher. This is why it’s important to check out the paytable before you begin playing so that you can make sure you choose the right game for you.

In addition to the paytable, some games will pay out for different lower bounds in terms of what hand you have. So Jacks or Better will pay out if you have a pair of Jacks or better as your hand. Other games won’t pay out unless you have at least three of a kind. Also, some games will pay out for two pairs, but others won’t pay out for two pairs. These are two important aspects that you need to research before you start playing. If you’re not fully aware of what hands will create a win and you play for two pairs, it could lead to you being without a payout and making a big loss on the machine.
